WHAT WE DO
The tourism levy, also known as the TOMSA levy, is the 1% levy charged to the consumer for the use of specific tourism services in South Africa. The funds collected are primarily used by South African Tourism to promote South Africa as a preferred travel and tourism destination.
SAT is the official marketing agency for destination South Africa. Its core business is to drive tourists into South Africa as well as galvanise local South Africans to explore their very own Msanzi. With additional support and funding from the industry’s private sector, SAT’s marketing reach can be expanded to open more doors for your tourism business,as well as to reach new markets and opportunities.
WHY SUPPORT TOMSA?
The increased spend on awareness of South Africa has a direct impact on tourist arrivals. More funds means more promotion, and more promotion means more tourists; which means more jobs. By being a TOMSA levy contributor, you are adding value to this national effort! In addition to your business adding value and actively participating in the official marketing efforts of South Africa, you and your business also receive a broad basket of benefits for merely collecting and handing the contributions over.
Remember, your client pays the 1% levy which you add to your invoice price, meaning there is no direct cost to your business. No matter how big or small your monthly contribution is, you are entitled to all of the following benefits.
