How the new Botswana Tourism Development Levy will work

Despite resistance from the tourism and hospitality industry in Botswana, the country will go ahead and implement a $30 per visitor Tourism Development Levy. A date for implementation is yet to be confirmed. The levy will not apply to children under nine years old and will be used to raise funds for conservation and national tourism development, broadening the tourism base and improving the lives of the people of Botswana. The levy will not apply to SADC (Southern African) visitors. Click here to view the Botswana tourism levy fact sheet.
