    TOURISM & MIGRATION MAY STATISTICS

    In May 2018, 3 190 914 travellers (arrivals, departures and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry. They were made up of 857 349 South African residents and 2 333 565 foreign travellers.

    Foreign arrivals, 1 196 107 were made up of 77 559 non-visitors and 1 118 548 visitors.

    The visitors were broken down as follows:

    351 218 who arrived and departed on the same day, and

    767 330 who stayed overnight (tourists).

    Tourists increased by 0,04% from 767 059 in May 2017.
