The TOMSA Annual General Meeting was held at the TBCSA offices in Centurion on Thursday, 21 June 2018. Highlighted in the CEO’s report were the strategic objectives of TOMSA and how the organization had gone about achieving them through various initiatives carried about by the TBCSA. A summary of these include:
- Redefining the TOMSA value proposition by increasing visibility, awareness, understanding and support. Key highlights of this include the establishment of the TOMSA Collaborative Fund. Another is the preparation of a discussion paper on TOMSA’s repositioning that would be discussed by the board.
- Improving relations with SA Tourism by firstly maintaining working relationships and being represented on the SA Tourism Board, therefore contributing to the SA Tourism Annual Performance Plans.
Hotel and car hire industries remain the major sources of income for TOMSA. Despite the decline in levy contributors, levy income has increased. This just shows the level of confidence of those in the tourism sector.
